Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met a delegation of the All Pakistan Bedsheets and Upholstery Manufacturers Association (APBUMA) on Friday to review efforts aimed at expanding Pakistan’s textile exports and strengthening the global presence of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

During the meeting, discussions focused on export marketing, international branding, access to global markets, trade financing, and challenges faced by SMEs in the textile sector. The delegation briefed the minister on ongoing initiatives to enhance Pakistan’s share in international home textile markets through targeted trade promotion strategies.

APBUMA representatives highlighted that 15 member companies will participate in the Home Textile Sourcing Exhibition scheduled to be held from July 21 to 23, 2026, in Los Angeles. A dedicated Pakistan pavilion will showcase local products, with the aim of connecting manufacturers directly with global buyers and retailers.

The association requested official support and patronage from the government to facilitate business-to-business engagements during the exhibition. In response, the commerce minister assured that Pakistan’s trade and investment officers in the United States would extend full support to participating companies to help them establish meaningful international partnerships.

APBUMA also proposed hosting internationally recognised exhibition platforms such as Heimtextil in Pakistan. According to the delegation, such events could significantly enhance Pakistan’s global trade visibility, attract foreign buyers directly to manufacturing hubs, and create long-term investment and branding opportunities for the textile industry.

The minister praised the private sector’s proactive approach, stating that participation in global exhibitions and direct engagement with international buyers is essential for improving country branding and boosting exports. He encouraged industry stakeholders to continue expanding their reach into both existing and emerging markets.

Officials said the government is committed to supporting export-led growth, particularly in labour-intensive sectors like textiles, which remain a key driver of Pakistan’s foreign exchange earnings.
