Pakistan Still Awaits Full Flood Aid as 2025 Disaster Strikes

Pakistan is facing another devastating flood in 2025 while still waiting for promised aid from the 2022 disaster. The country has struggled to secure full international funding despite urgent needs.

After the 2022 floods, donors pledged 11 billion dollars at the Geneva conference. However, poor planning and delays slowed actual disbursements over the last three years.

So far, Pakistan has received only 4.69 billion dollars. Of this, 2.75 billion dollars came for project financing and 1.93 billion dollars for commodity imports.

For the current fiscal year, Pakistan set a financing target of 1.26 billion dollars. Authorities estimated over 760 million dollars for project funding alone.

Documents show Pakistan pledged 10.98 billion dollars in Geneva. Yet, only 2.1 million dollars in direct grants have reached the country.
