Pakistan’s IT Services Exports Surge, Opening New Opportunities for Freelancers

The growing demand for Pakistani IT services in the global market has opened up new opportunities for freelancers and startups. With the facilitation of the Software Export Development Council (SEDC), Pakistan has seen a significant increase in IT service exports, bringing in much-needed foreign exchange and offering fresh prospects for the country’s tech industry.
According to recent reports, IT services exports have contributed to a remarkable 6% increase in Pakistan’s overall service exports, generating $5.4 billion in foreign exchange over the past eight months. The exports in the IT, computer, and telecom services sector alone grew by 25%, reaching a total of $2.4 billion.
This rise in demand for Pakistani IT services globally is expected to provide freelancers and startups with ample opportunities to tap into the growing international market. The positive trend in IT services exports was highlighted by a record $709 million in exports for February, marking a significant milestone.
In addition, other business services exports have seen a modest increase of 1.4%, totalling $1.07 billion. This growth reflects the rising confidence in Pakistan’s services sector in the global market.
To further capitalise on this momentum, the government has set an ambitious target of $15 billion in IT exports over the next five years. The recent surge in exports is expected to pave the way for achieving this goal, positioning Pakistan as a key player in the global IT landscape.
