Petrol and Diesel Prices Expected to Drop Again

ISLAMABAD – Pakistani consumers may see further relief at fuel pumps as petroleum product prices are expected to decrease again. The revision depends on the prime minister’s approval.
Officials estimate petrol prices could drop by Rs4.59 per litre, while high-speed diesel may fall by Rs2.70 per litre. Kerosene oil and light diesel oil will also see reductions.
Kerosene prices are expected to decrease by Rs1.82 per litre, and light diesel oil could fall by Rs2.08 per litre. The changes take effect after formal approval.
Pakistan started 2026 with major fuel relief. Petrol prices were reduced by Rs10.28 per litre, effective January 1, easing household and transportation costs.

Motor Spirit (petrol) prices dropped from Rs263.45 to Rs253.17 per litre, while high-speed diesel fell from Rs265.65 to Rs257.08 per litre, officials said.
The Ministry of Energy confirmed the fortnightly adjustment after reviewing global oil trends and domestic economic factors. Future revisions will reflect international prices and fiscal considerations.
On Jan 11, global petrol prices fell by $2.74 per barrel, with additional reductions in customs duties, ex-refinery, and exchange adjustments, further lowering local fuel costs.
