‘Political Temperature Must Be Lowered by Establishment, Government and Imran Khan for Meaningful Talks’

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has stated that meaningful political dialogue in Pakistan is only possible if the establishment, the government, and Imran Khan take collective steps to reduce the rising political temperature in the country.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Fawad said that there are three main stakeholders in the negotiation process, and it is the responsibility of all three to create a conducive environment for talks. He warned that the ongoing political tensions are harming the country and preventing any constructive progress.
He said that although the Prime Minister has talked about initiating dialogue, the government has not yet taken steps to create a positive environment. He added that government representatives like Khawaja Asif openly refuse to talk to PTI, while PTI dismisses the current government as “fake,” resulting in a stalemate.
“When both sides refuse to even look at each other, how can they negotiate?” Fawad questioned, emphasizing that political hostility must be reduced before any breakthrough can occur.
Fawad Chaudhry Calls for Dialogue to Release Imran Khan
Fawad Chaudhry also criticized the current PTI leadership, claiming that it holds little political value and lacks any real connection with founder-chairman Imran Khan. He noted, however, that he remains in contact with PTI’s former leadership.
He further stated that senior leaders like Imran Ismail and Mahmood Moulvi are calling for the release of founding PTI figures, including Imran Khan. Anyone supporting Khan’s release deserves appreciation, he added.
Fawad urged the government and establishment to take the first step by releasing political detainees from Kot Lakhpat Jail. He said that delaying decisions out of fear of social media campaigns is not a viable strategy.
