Punjab Launches First Coablation Cancer Treatment Center

Lahore —Punjab has taken a major step forward in healthcare with the inauguration of Pakistan’s first Coablation Cancer Treatment Centre, offering a revolutionary method to cure cancer without chemotherapy or radiotherapy. The treatment promises to eliminate cancer in just 60 minutes through a painless procedure.
Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, inaugurated the facility and described it as a “new era of hope” for cancer patients in Pakistan. She highlighted that Punjab is now the first region outside China to acquire this cutting-edge technology, which allows patients to undergo treatment free of chemotherapy’s painful side effects.
Maryam Nawaz revealed that the advanced machine, imported from China, costs around 250 million PKR, while each probe used in the treatment is priced at USD 5,500. To ensure accessibility, the provincial government has allocated 5 billion PKR to fund treatment, with free services for patients who cannot afford the cost.
“This machine is not just equipment; it is a lifeline,” she said, adding that the first installation at Mayo Hospital Lahore has already treated five patients successfully, who are now reported healthy. More machines are being procured for South Punjab, Rawalpindi, and the under-construction Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital, which will receive three units.
Maryam Nawaz further shared that Punjab will also expand the use of this technology for kidney tumour treatment. She noted that Dr Shehzad, a local oncologist, was specially trained in China to operate the system and has returned to lead its implementation in Pakistan.
“With this initiative, Punjab has positioned itself as a modern leader in cancer treatment,” the Chief Minister said. “Our mission is to provide world-class healthcare to every citizen, free from pain and financial burden.”
