Rana Sanaullah: Legal Process Needed for PTI Demands

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has stated that protests inside the Senate have no bearing on prison meeting arrangements. He emphasized that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should follow the proper legal procedures to address its demands regarding Imran Khan. According to Sanaullah, staging protests outside Adiala Jail is not the right way to seek a solution. He urged the party to use the correct legal forum instead of creating agitation.
The minister explained that PTI’s request to meet Imran Khan will continue unless the party follows the legal process. He pointed out that the jail authorities must be approached according to the law, and protests will not yield any results. Sanaullah further questioned whether any court decision permits press conferences after meetings with the PTI leader. He clarified that only family and lawyers are allowed to meet Khan, and political activities should not take place during these meetings.
Rana Sanaullah also addressed the issue of political activities outside Adiala Jail. He argued that PTI leaders often accuse jail authorities of obstructing political activities, even though the court has banned such actions. He stressed that PTI is free to hold press conferences at their offices but must not use prison meetings for political campaigns. Violating court orders by turning meetings into protests or calls for agitation would not be tolerated.
He added that discussions outside the jail have often included talks about launching movements and confrontation. While the jail superintendent has informed the court about the ban on political activities, these actions continue. The minister made it clear that if PTI ensures that their meetings do not incite violence or state opposition, there will be no objections from the authorities. However, the jail authorities have the right to restrict access if the meetings are used for political purposes.
Rana Sanaullah also touched on the regional security situation, particularly terrorism originating from the Afghan border. He stated that attacks planned by terrorist groups in Afghanistan, often with Indian support, justify Pakistan’s response. Sanaullah confirmed that Pakistan has already targeted terrorist hideouts and would take further action if needed. He concluded by emphasizing Pakistan’s right to eliminate terrorist safe havens in Afghanistan and said any future actions would be communicated openly.
