Search continues for child missing in Rawalpindi drain

Rescue teams in Rawalpindi have entered the third day of a continuous search operation to locate a seven-year-old boy who fell into a sewerage drain near IJP Road and remains missing.

According to rescue officials, the child, identified as Wisal, accidentally fell into the drain near Kacha Stop two days ago. Since then, emergency response teams have been conducting an extensive operation to trace his whereabouts, utilizing all available resources and equipment.

Authorities said the search effort has continued without interruption as rescuers explore multiple locations along the drainage system. Teams have inspected the underground section of the drain stretching from the incident site to Kacha Stop, where there is a possibility that the child may have become trapped.

Rescue officials explained that specialized search operations are being carried out at key points along the main drain, particularly in areas where debris and obstructions could potentially hinder water flow and trap objects. To strengthen the ongoing efforts, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has been requested to provide additional machinery. Two excavators have been deployed to assist rescuers in accessing difficult sections of the drainage network and clearing potential blockage points.

Officials said the operation involves a coordinated effort among multiple agencies working around the clock to locate the missing child. Despite challenging conditions and the complexity of the drainage system, rescue workers remain hopeful and are continuing their search with determination.
