Riyadh: In a significant move, Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended the issuance of block work visa quotas for citizens of 14 countries until the end of June 2025. The decision aims to strengthen immigration control, reduce crowding, and prevent unauthorised pilgrimages ahead of the Hajj season.

The affected countries include Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Jordan, Algeria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tunisia, Yemen, and Morocco.

According to the Ministry of Human Resources, a block work visa quota allows Saudi companies to pre-approve a specific number of foreign workers from selected countries. With this suspension, no new applications will be accepted. Pending requests may face delays or cancellation. Individuals who have been issued visas but have not yet entered Saudi Arabia may also encounter difficulties with entry.

Additionally, Saudi authorities have temporarily halted the issuance of Umrah, family visit, business, and tourist visas for several countries.

These restrictions will remain in effect until the end of June 2025, with the possibility of easing them after the Hajj season.
