SHC Issues Bailable Warrant for DIG in Hiring Case

The Sindh High Court Sukkur bench on Wednesday issued bailable arrest warrants for DIG Shaheed Benazirabad, Pervez Chandio. The action came during the hearing of multiple petitions about irregularities in police constable recruitment. The bench included Justice Zulfiqar Sangi and Justice Riazat Ali.
The court expressed strong displeasure over the DIG’s absence from the hearing. Despite being summoned, DIG Chandio failed to appear before the bench. As a result, the judges issued bailable arrest warrants to ensure his presence at the next hearing.
During the session, the court said the recruitment list had been tampered with. It noted that eligible candidates were denied their right. Meanwhile, failed candidates were declared successful and even issued appointment orders. The judges called the matter serious and demanded accountability.
The Additional Advocate General (AAG) Sindh requested more time to respond to the court’s concerns. The bench accepted the plea and granted 15 days. The case was then adjourned to allow for further investigation and response.
This development adds pressure on the police department and Sindh authorities to ensure transparency. The court emphasized that public service jobs must be filled fairly. It also warned of strict action against those found responsible for fraud or misconduct.
