Shehbaz Sharif joins Erdogan and Qatar emir in Antalya trilateral talks

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif participated in a trilateral meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, where leaders focused on regional stability and ongoing peace efforts.
The three leaders reviewed recent developments in the Middle East, with particular attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and broader Palestine-related concerns. According to official statements, the discussion centred on strengthening diplomatic engagement and promoting dialogue-based solutions to ongoing regional conflicts.
The leaders agreed to maintain close coordination among their countries to support peace initiatives and encourage diplomatic pathways aimed at long-term stability in the region. They also emphasized the importance of continued communication and cooperation in addressing evolving geopolitical challenges.

Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a key global maritime passage. In a post on social media platform X, he linked the decision to ongoing ceasefire conditions in the region, particularly in relation to developments in Lebanon. He stated that the strategic waterway would remain operational for the duration of the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States, describing the move as part of broader de-escalation efforts.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump praised Pakistan’s leadership in a post on Truth Social, referring to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir as “two fantastic people.” He also thanked Pakistan, calling it a “great nation,” and described the moment as significant for global peace efforts. Trump’s remarks highlighted appreciation for both civilian and military leadership in Pakistan.
The developments come amid heightened diplomatic activity across multiple regions, with leaders seeking to manage tensions and promote dialogue through international forums and bilateral engagement.
