US Iran talks Pakistan meeting

An American television network, citing Iranian sources, has reported that the second round of negotiations between the United States and Iran is expected to take place on Monday in Pakistan. However, according to the report, US officials have not yet confirmed the schedule of the proposed talks.

The development follows an earlier round of discussions held in Islamabad, which reportedly brought together senior delegations from both countries. That meeting was described as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing key areas of disagreement and reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

According to details shared in the report, the US delegation in the first round was led by Vice President JD Vance and included senior figures such as Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff. The Iranian delegation was reportedly headed by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, alongside Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

Following the initial talks, both sides are said to have reached limited understanding on certain issues and agreed in principle to continue dialogue in a follow-up meeting. The proposed second round, if confirmed, would further expand diplomatic engagement between the two countries amid ongoing regional tensions and complex geopolitical challenges.

US officials, however, have not issued any formal confirmation regarding the timing or location of the next round of negotiations. The uncertainty highlights the sensitive nature of the discussions and the cautious approach both sides appear to be taking as they explore possible areas of agreement.

Pakistan’s reported role as a host for these talks underscores its growing diplomatic engagement in facilitating dialogue between major international actors. Observers note that any sustained negotiations between the US and Iran could have significant implications for regional stability, energy markets, and broader Middle East geopolitics.
