Former US President Donald Trump has said that a government review of UFO-related material has uncovered a number of “very interesting” documents, with the first batch expected to be released soon. He made the remarks while speaking at an event hosted by the conservative group Turning Point USA, where he suggested the public would soon be able to examine the findings themselves.

Trump said the review, ordered in February during his administration, directed US agencies to declassify and release files related to unidentified flying objects, now officially referred to as unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), as well as any material potentially linked to extraterrestrial life. He said the move was driven by strong public interest in transparency on the issue.

According to Trump, the initial set of documents will be made available “very soon,” though he did not provide a specific timeline or details about their contents. He added that the material uncovered so far includes several items he described as “interesting,” without elaborating further.

The initiative follows long-standing debate in the United States over UFO sightings and government transparency. In recent years, the Pentagon has conducted investigations into unexplained aerial sightings, though officials have consistently stated they found no evidence of extraterrestrial visitation or crash-landed spacecraft.

A 2024 Pentagon report concluded that most reported sightings were linked to misidentified natural phenomena, human-made objects, or sensor errors, and found no confirmed evidence of alien technology.

Trump also referenced previous comments made by former President Barack Obama regarding the possibility of extraterrestrial life, though Obama later clarified he had not seen evidence of alien contact during his presidency.

While skepticism remains within official US defence assessments, the upcoming release of documents is expected to renew public debate and speculation surrounding UFO phenomena and government knowledge of unexplained aerial events.
