Johannesburg: South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has tested positive for a banned substance, casting serious doubt over his participation in next month’s World Test Championship final against Australia.
In a brief statement, Rabada expressed regret over the incident, saying he was deeply embarrassed and apologized to his fans. “I’m currently under a provisional suspension, but I’m hopeful of returning to the game soon,” he said.
The development comes as a major blow to South Africa’s preparations ahead of the high-stakes final. Cricket South Africa and the relevant authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the next steps.
