Texas has launched a major investigation into alleged H-1B visa fraud involving nearly 30 companies, raising concerns about immigration compliance and tech industry practices. Attorney General Ken Paxton announced legal action, signaling a broader crackdown on suspected misuse of the visa program.

According to official statements, authorities issued Civil Investigative Demands to the companies. These orders require detailed records, including employee data, financial documents, and business communications. Officials aim to determine whether these firms operated legitimate businesses or used fraudulent methods.

Moreover, investigators suspect some companies misused the H-1B program by sponsoring foreign workers under false pretenses. Reports suggest that certain firms created “ghost offices” to appear operational. However, these locations allegedly lacked real business activity and existed mainly to secure visa approvals.

In addition, several tech firms based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, including Tekpro IT LLC and Qubitz Tech Systems LLC, are under scrutiny. Authorities believe many followed similar staffing models, which raised concerns about transparency and ownership structures.
