Tragic Boat Accident in Nigeria Leaves Over 40 Missing

A tragic boat accident has shaken Nigeria’s Sokoto state. Reports confirm that over 40 passengers are still missing after the vessel overturned.
The accident occurred on a busy waterway, and initial details show the boat was carrying more people than allowed.
According to local media, the boat had more than 50 passengers onboard at the time of the incident. Witnesses said the vessel struggled to maintain balance before capsizing.
Authorities believe overcrowding was the main reason behind the disaster, which made the situation even more dangerous.
Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) quickly responded to the tragedy. In a statement released on social media, the agency confirmed that ten passengers were rescued.
Rescue teams are continuing efforts to locate survivors and recover those who are still missing.
Officials have warned about the dangers of overcrowded boats in the region. Unfortunately, such accidents remain common in Nigeria due to poor safety enforcement and reliance on waterways for transport. Local communities often face the risk of deadly incidents while travelling.
