Trump confirms National Guard death in Afghan citizen shooting incident

The White House confirmed that a National Guard member injured in the Afghan citizen shooting incident near the White House has died. According to officials, the shooting took place in Washington State, where two National Guard members were targeted by gunfire close to the White House security area.
President Donald Trump spoke to the media and said that two National Guard officers were attacked. He confirmed that 20-year-old Sarah Backstorm could not survive her injuries and passed away. The second officer, 24-year-old Andrew Wolf, is still in critical condition at the hospital.
President Trump also said that the gunman, who opened fire on the officers, is in serious condition as well. He expressed concern over the increasing involvement of illegal migrants in violent incidents and said he had discussed this matter with security officials.

The shooting suspect was arrested shortly after the attack. Authorities identified him as 29-year-old Rahmanullah, an Afghan national who arrived in the U.S. in 2021 during President Biden’s administration. Police are now reviewing his background and possible motives.
Officials added that this tragic event has once again raised concerns about security around the White House. They stressed that such cases must be handled strictly to avoid another Afghan citizen shooting incident in the future.
