US global reputation Iran war report

The United States has suffered significant damage to its global reputation following the Iran conflict initiated during Donald Trump’s presidency, according to a special report published by the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

The report states that the Israel–US military campaign against Iran not only destabilised the Middle East but also had far-reaching consequences for the global economy and energy markets. It notes that while Trump had earlier announced in Riyadh that the United States was stepping back from Middle East wars, American forces launched airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities just one month later, escalating tensions dramatically.

According to the report, the ensuing 108-day conflict led to widespread destruction across the region and resulted in thousands of deaths. Despite the scale of military operations, neither the United States nor Israel succeeded in achieving their core objectives of dismantling Iran’s nuclear and missile programmes, while Iran’s political system remained intact.

The analysis further claims that the conflict weakened confidence in US global leadership. It states that the United States conducted nearly 13,000 airstrikes and spent an estimated $100 billion on weapons during the war, raising concerns about the sustainability and strategic effectiveness of its military approach.

Economically, the report highlights severe global disruption, particularly after tensions around the Strait of Hormuz affected nearly 20 percent of global oil supply. Markets experienced volatility, and the conflict is estimated to have cost up to $2 billion per day at its peak.

The report also notes that while an initial understanding between the United States and Iran has emerged, it does not yet constitute a formal peace agreement. The next 60 days of negotiations are described as crucial in determining the future trajectory of relations.

Analysts quoted in the report suggest that the war strained US relations with allies in Europe and the Gulf region, while also leaving Israel more diplomatically isolated. It concludes that although Iran emerged economically weakened, it gained political resilience, while US credibility and influence suffered a serious setback.
