The recent tension follows Thailand’s suspension of the U.S.-brokered peace agreement with Cambodia last month. The agreement was initially intended to establish lasting peace after border clashes in July that killed over 40 people and displaced more than 300,000 civilians.
Both countries originally signed the agreement in October during a ceremony in Malaysia with President Trump present. Now, with renewed commitments, Trump halts conflict between Thailand and Cambodia again and hopes to ensure a sustained ceasefire, bringing stability to the region.
