Two patients die, 14 suffer complications after injection reaction at Mayo Hospital

Lahore: Two patients lost their lives, and 14 others developed severe health complications, including three on ventilators, after reacting to an injection given for lung infections at Mayo Hospital’s Chest Ward.
The deceased have been identified as Perveen Bibi and Dolat Khan. Mayo Hospital CEO Professor Haroon Hamid confirmed that the use of the injection was immediately stopped, and a committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
Health Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique assured that those responsible will be held accountable. The hospital administration stated that the antibiotic used was not expired but suggested that an error in mixing the injection might have caused the reaction.
Authorities are now investigating the matter to determine the exact cause and prevent future incidents.
