No Major Breakthrough in US-Iran Mediation as Regional Diplomacy Continues

Efforts to mediate between the United States and Iran have yet to achieve a significant breakthrough, despite ongoing diplomatic engagement by regional players.

Sources familiar with the mediation process revealed that the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey are working to develop a confidence-building package aimed at easing tensions.

According to sources, the proposed package is intended to help extend the deadline set by Donald Trump and facilitate direct talks between the two sides.

It was further disclosed that the three foreign ministers held telephonic conversations with Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss possible solutions.

However, no meaningful progress has been made so far in finalizing a framework that could extend the deadline or bring both parties to the negotiating table.

Meanwhile, in an interview with a US newspaper, Donald Trump stated that Iran cannot be given an indefinite timeline to end hostilities.

He warned that if Iran does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening, Iranian power plants could be targeted, while also adding that detailed negotiations are ongoing and a deal could still be reached before the deadline.
