ISLAMABAD – The Senate Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis was informed that several countries, including the UAE, the UK, Italy, and some other European nations, have suspended student visas for Pakistani nationals.
During a committee meeting chaired by Senator Zeeshan Khanzada, the Director General of Passports disclosed that visa violations and illegal stays were the primary reasons behind the suspension.
The committee was also told that countries regularly share lists of Pakistani offenders, and that Iran deported 34,000 Pakistanis last year alone. Committee members warned that if corrective measures are not taken, more countries could impose similar visa restrictions.
Separately, the Secretary for Overseas Pakistanis highlighted that, through the efforts of MD Naseer Kashani, eight female welders have been successfully sent to South Korea. The committee commended Kashani for this initiative.
