Widespread WhatsApp Disruptions Reported Across Pakistan

Reports suggest that the disruptions were most severe in Punjab, while users in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi also faced intermittent problems. A significant percentage of affected users (67%) struggled to send messages, while a smaller proportion (16%) encountered issues receiving them.

The incident occurred shortly after the Pakistan Software Houses Association cautioned the government about the potential fallout of internet restrictions and a possible ban on virtual private networks (VPNs).

Although industry sources confirmed the challenges in using the Meta-owned messaging platform, the root cause of the disruption has yet to be identified.
