FBR Achieves Record Tax Collection in December

Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has achieved a record tax collection in December, making it the highest tax revenue ever collected in this month in Pakistan’s history. According to officials, FBR collected Rs 1,427.1 billion, showing strong improvement in revenue performance and reflecting better tax administration and compliance.
Officials briefed Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and informed him that FBR achieved 99 percent of its monthly target. The total target for December was Rs 1,446 billion, and the actual collection reached Rs 1,427.1 billion, which is considered a major success.
Authorities confirmed that this is the highest tax collection ever recorded in any December. The Inland Revenue Service also performed well by collecting Rs 1,308 billion against a target of Rs 1,310 billion, achieving 99.8 percent of its goal.

The data also shows a sharp increase compared to November. Tax collection rose by 59 percent in December. In November, FBR collected Rs 898 billion, which increased significantly to Rs 1,427.1 billion in December.
Experts say this strong performance reflects better enforcement and economic activity, and the record tax collection in December is expected to support government efforts to stabilize the economy and meet annual revenue targets.
