Hezbollah missile attacks

Beirut: Tensions escalated along the Israel-Lebanon border as Hezbollah defended its recent missile attacks on Israel. The group described the strikes as a “defensive act” and a “legitimate right.” Hezbollah accused Israel of violating a 2024 ceasefire agreement over the past 15 months. The group warned that aggression without response cannot continue.

Hezbollah posted a statement on Telegram, saying political and diplomatic efforts failed to stop Israeli attacks. The group claimed repeated warnings went unheeded. “Assassinations and destruction cannot continue without response,” the statement added. Hezbollah emphasized that it would continue defending Lebanon from perceived aggression.

The announcement came as Israel issued urgent evacuation orders for dozens of areas in southern Lebanon. The Israeli military asked civilians to leave at least 1,000 meters away from villages near Hezbollah positions. Spokesperson Avichay Adraee stressed that anyone near Hezbollah facilities would be in serious danger.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam moved to limit Hezbollah’s military role. He declared that the group’s activities would now be restricted to the political sphere. The decision reflects mounting internal pressure as cross-border hostilities intensify. Officials hope the move reduces tensions and prevents further escalation.

Israel warned that civilians in at least 59 southern Lebanese areas must evacuate immediately. Authorities emphasized safety concerns due to ongoing Hezbollah operations. Residents were instructed to stay away from villages targeted for military activity. The warnings underscored the seriousness of the escalating border situation.

Hezbollah argued that Israel’s attacks violated the ceasefire agreement and international norms. The group insisted that defense is its legal right under these conditions. Analysts say the escalation increases risks of a wider regional conflict. Both sides remain on high alert along the border.

The situation highlights ongoing fragility along the Israel-Lebanon frontier. International observers called for restraint from both sides. With tensions rising, experts warn the conflict could affect civilian safety and regional stability. Negotiations and diplomacy may be needed to prevent further escalation.
