Hajj operations begin from Multan with first flight to Madinah

Hajj operations officially commenced at Multan International Airport, where the first group of pilgrims departed for Saudi Arabia amid special arrangements and a formal send-off ceremony.
Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani attended the launch ceremony and saw off the pilgrims on the inaugural flight. Addressing the gathering, he described Hajj as a sacred act of worship that teaches patience, sacrifice, and endurance. He congratulated the departing pilgrims on being chosen for this spiritual journey and urged them to pray for Pakistan’s stability, progress, and the unity of the Muslim Ummah while in the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.
He further stated that the government has ensured modern facilities for pilgrims, including medical support and digital services to assist them throughout their journey. Despite rising global inflation, he highlighted that there has been no increase in the Hajj package cost this year, calling it a significant relief for intending pilgrims.
During the ceremony, a collective prayer was offered for the country’s prosperity, peace, and the well-being of the Muslim world. The Chairman Senate also presented floral garlands to the pilgrims and extended his best wishes before their departure.
The first Hajj flight from Multan, operated by Airblue, carried 151 pilgrims to Madinah. According to officials, around 13,000 pilgrims from South Punjab will perform Hajj this year under the government scheme.
The Hajj operations from Multan International Airport will include a total of 39 scheduled flights, ensuring smooth transportation of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. The final flight from Multan is expected to depart on May 17, marking the conclusion of the regional Hajj operation.
Authorities said all necessary arrangements have been finalized to facilitate pilgrims and ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-organized travel experience.
