Law enforcement agencies in Quetta successfully foiled a major smuggling attempt involving Iranian currency transported via the Jaffar Express.

According to details, authorities conducted a snap checking operation at Quetta Railway Station based on intelligence reports. A suspicious passenger traveling to Lahore was intercepted and searched.

During the operation, a large amount of Iranian rials was recovered from the suspect’s luggage. Officials stated that the seized currency is worth nearly Rs2 billion in the international market.

The smuggler had cleverly concealed the currency inside boxes of dates to evade detection, but timely action by authorities prevented the attempt.

The suspect has been taken into custody and moved to an undisclosed location for further investigation. Initial findings suggest the currency was being smuggled from Quetta to Lahore.

Officials believe this operation may lead to uncovering a larger smuggling network, and efforts are underway to identify and arrest other individuals involved.
