“A senior is one who makes himself worthy of respect” Rajab Butt’s criticism of Fahad Mustafa!

Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt, known for his significant following on digital platforms, has recently found himself at the centre of controversy due to his comments on actor Fahad Mustafa and his decision to name his perfume “295”. Following a public backlash, Butt is currently abroad, but he took the opportunity to address the situation in a podcast recorded in Dubai.
During the podcast, Butt discussed his remarks about Fahad Mustafa and clarified his stance, offering the actor some advice on how to approach relationships with junior colleagues in the entertainment industry. Butt emphasised the importance of mutual respect, saying, “A senior is the one who will make himself respect-worthy. Do respect and get respect back. If I say anything bad to a ninth-class student, he will shut me up on the spot. So, seniors should behave like seniors; that’s it.”
Butt also reflected on his admiration for Mustafa before the controversy erupted, explaining that his respect for the actor, particularly for his hosting of Jeeto Pakistan, had faded after the remarks. He stated, “I used to like him a lot because of Jeeto Pakistan. I never watched any of his dramas because I am not a drama viewer. But after that statement, I lost his respect.”
The controversy stemmed from Butt’s criticism of the actor’s actions, particularly regarding the way content from TV channels is handled on digital platforms. Butt questioned why hit dramas, which are already popular on TV, are uploaded to YouTube channels that boast millions of subscribers, implying that this move was done at the expense of others. He remarked, “Everyone is selling their families; you are selfish because you are selling others’ families.”
