Abdul Qadir Patel Slams MQM

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Abdul Qadir Patel has strongly criticized the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), holding it equally responsible for the current conditions in Karachi.

Speaking during a National Assembly session, Patel said that MQM has repeatedly been part of governments alongside the PPP, and therefore responsibility cannot be placed on one party alone.

Referring to Gul Plaza, he stated that only one floor had been approved, but it was allegedly expanded to five floors through force by a guard associated with the MQM founder.

Patel pointed out contradictions within MQM’s stance, noting that one leader praised the fire brigade a day earlier, while another criticized it the following day.

He further alleged that MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami together have shaped Karachi’s situation over the past 35 years, adding that discussing Gul Plaza without mentioning Baldia Town would be incomplete.

The PPP lawmaker claimed that MQM continues to follow the ideology of its founder and has yet to completely abandon politics based on hatred.

He concluded by saying that those taunting the provincial government are not new to governance and advised that Karachi’s history should be studied before commenting on its issues.
