petroleum price hike

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, criticized the recent petroleum price increase. He called the Rs 55 hike unconstitutional and illegal. He spoke to the media outside the Parliament House Islamabad on Monday. Barrister Gohar expressed concerns about the impact on the public. He urged the government to reconsider its decision immediately.

He said the PTI tried every possible effort to speak in the assembly. However, the party was not allowed to raise the issue. He stressed that transparency is essential when taking such economic decisions. According to him, ignoring the opposition violates democratic principles.

Barrister Gohar explained that the oil marketing companies must maintain their own stock. He said that no stock was available when the prices were increased. Therefore, he considered the hike unjustified and illegal. He added that public money should not benefit companies unfairly.

He recalled that the government had already increased petroleum prices on February 28. That increase was supposed to last for a fortnight. Despite this, the new hike was implemented. He called it a disregard for proper economic planning and public welfare.

He argued that sudden price increases harm ordinary citizens the most. Families, transporters, and businesses feel the burden immediately. Barrister Gohar said the government should protect the public from unfair policies. He emphasized that such actions erode trust in governance.

he said PTI will continue highlighting illegal economic decisions. The party will also push for accountability in the government. He claimed the public deserves transparency in all pricing decisions. He called on authorities to review the petroleum pricing mechanism immediately.

Barrister Gohar urged the government to act responsibly. He stressed that public welfare should take priority over corporate profits. He warned that continuing illegal price hikes could create unrest. Citizens, he added, expect fair and lawful governance in economic matters.
