Business community rejects GSP plus propaganda

Pakistan’s business community has dismissed propaganda targeting the GSP plus status. They urged the government to take strict action against those spreading misinformation. The issue is critical as exports and economic stability rely on this facility.
During a press conference, leading business figures highlighted the importance of safeguarding this trade benefit. United Business Group leader S M Tanveer emphasized its role in strengthening key industries. He stated that exporters depend heavily on continued access to this facility.
Furthermore, he noted that Pakistan secured the status for the 2024 to 2027 period. He said this achievement resulted from joint efforts by all stakeholders. Therefore, he warned that any threat to it could damage economic growth and trade confidence.
At the same time, APTMA chairman Kamran Arshad pointed to significant export growth. He said exports increased from below two billion dollars in 2013. They have now climbed to nearly 9.5 billion dollars due to GSP plus benefits.
In addition, business leaders recognized ongoing economic challenges and government efforts. They called for new trade agreements to boost exports further. They also stressed continued engagement with taxpayers to ensure a stable economic environment.
