Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that the US President has his eyes on global wealth and that instability has been created in the region to control its resources. He made these remarks while addressing a public gathering in Charsadda.

Fazlur Rehman claimed that when religious scholars had leadership in the subcontinent, there was peace, but instability increased after leadership was taken away from them. He added that sectarianism was promoted in society, but his party had worked to stop it from spreading further.

He also alleged electoral irregularities, saying that his party faced rigging in elections, which was later acknowledged by some. He questioned whether a government formed under such circumstances could be considered legitimate and warned that his party would not allow parliament to function smoothly if “real results” were not provided.

The JUI chief said that his party supported Pakistan’s stance during the India conflict and also backed the country’s role in US-Iran mediation efforts. He criticized political leadership and governance, claiming that the poor are struggling while the ruling class enjoys privileges.

Fazlur Rehman further said that political issues, including those with Afghanistan, should be resolved through dialogue. He concluded that Pakistan’s political system is increasingly based on power rather than constitutional principles, and insisted that space should be given to JUI for what he called better governance, repeating his stance on regional instability and control of resources.
