Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Cancels Switzerland Visit After Islamabad Agreement

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has canceled his planned visit to Switzerland, according to official sources. The prime minister was scheduled to leave for Switzerland today, where initial talks under the Iran-US agreement were set to take place at the Bürgenstock Resort. The decision regarding the Shehbaz Sharif Switzerland visit cancellation comes after significant progress in the diplomatic process.
Diplomatic sources said that the visit was canceled because the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) had already been signed in Islamabad. With the agreement finalized, there was no immediate need for the prime minister to attend the next stage of discussions in Switzerland.
According to sources, technical negotiations will now be held separately. These discussions will focus on various issues that form part of the overall framework of the Memorandum of Understanding and will help move the agreement forward.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding in his role as a mediator. US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian also signed the agreement, which is being viewed as an important diplomatic development for regional stability.
Although Prime Minister Sharif was expected to travel to Switzerland with a delegation, the visit was called off after the agreement was completed. Sources said the Shehbaz Sharif Switzerland visit cancellation reflects the successful completion of a key phase of the diplomatic process, while future technical talks will continue as planned.
