PPP and PML-N Reach Agreement on Government Formation in Gilgit-Baltistan

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have reached an agreement on forming a government in Gilgit-Baltistan. The development comes after discussions between the leadership of both parties, paving the way for a coalition arrangement in the region. The Gilgit-Baltistan government formation agreement marks a significant step in shaping the new provincial administration.
Speaking to Geo News, PPP leader Naveed Qamar confirmed that an understanding had been reached with PML-N regarding the formation of the government. He said both parties had also agreed on the distribution of key constitutional positions.
According to Naveed Qamar, the positions of Governor and Deputy Speaker will be given to PML-N, while the office of the Chief Minister will go to PPP. The arrangement reflects a power-sharing formula agreed upon by both political parties.

Sources said the agreement was finalized after a meeting and a series of contacts between the senior leadership of PPP and PML-N. The discussions focused on ensuring political stability and forming a workable government in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Under the agreement, PPP is expected to form the government in Gilgit-Baltistan with the support of PML-N lawmakers. Political observers believe the Gilgit-Baltistan government formation agreement could strengthen cooperation between the two parties and provide a stable governing framework for the region.
