FBR officer injured in Clifton shooting after accident

An official of the Federal Board of Revenue was injured in a shooting incident in Clifton following a road accident, police said on Thursday.

According to South DIG Syed Asad Raza, FBR inspector Shah Mir Lashari was allegedly shot and wounded by Agha Sher, the son of a former senior police officer, after a late-night collision between two vehicles. The incident occurred around 1:45am near Block-9 Clifton.

Police said that after the collision, both parties exited their vehicles when the suspects allegedly opened fire without provocation. As a result, Lashari sustained three bullet wounds to his shoulder, leg and abdomen. The suspects, along with an associate, also allegedly assaulted the injured officer and his brother during the incident.

The wounded official was immediately shifted to Ziauddin Hospital for medical treatment. His condition has not been officially detailed.

An FIR has been registered at Clifton police station on the complaint of the officer’s brother, Shahzeb Khan. The case has been filed under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including attempted murder and causing injury.

According to the FIR, the complainant stated that he and his brother were travelling in an SUV when their vehicle collided with another SUV bearing registration number SPD-970. Following the accident, the suspects allegedly resorted to firing and physical assault.

Police have nominated Agha Sher and his gunman in the case and said efforts are underway to arrest the accused. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with authorities examining all aspects, including the circumstances leading to the altercation.
