Washington: According to Bloomberg, Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir’s second visit to the United States in just two months is a clear signal of improving relations between the two countries.
The report notes that Field Marshal Munir was recently invited by US President Donald Trump to a private luncheon at the White House—an uncommon gesture that reflects high-level engagement.
Bloomberg highlights that Munir is widely seen as Pakistan’s most powerful figure, with decisive influence over foreign policy, the economy, and national security matters.
The publication further states that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has openly praised Trump’s role in de-escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently denied Trump’s involvement.
During Trump’s presidency, the U.S. imposed lower trade tariffs on Pakistan compared to other regional countries such as India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, signalling a more favourable economic stance toward Islamabad.
