Floods Devastate Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dozens Dead and Missing

Heavy rains, cloudbursts, and floods have caused large-scale destruction in Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In Bajaur, rain-related incidents killed 15 people and left 20 missing. In Jabraari, lightning struck and trapped 20 people under debris. Rescuers have recovered 10 bodies so far. Authorities are warning of further risks as bad weather continues.
In Lower Dir’s Sori Pao area, a house roof collapsed during heavy rain, killing five people. In Battagram, lightning and flash floods destroyed eight houses. At least 40 people were swept away by floodwaters, and six bodies have been recovered. Residents are struggling as water levels remain high.
In Mansehra, a car was carried away by a flash flood, killing two people. Nearby, a stream near Sarun Valley Family Park overflowed, flooding the area. Authorities safely moved 1,300 stranded tourists in Sarun Valley to secure locations. Evacuation teams remain on alert for any new emergencies.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, flood-related incidents have killed 12 people. In Ghizer district, landslides claimed six lives. In Diamer, a brother and sister drowned in floodwaters. Near Shisper Glacier, residents were evacuated from houses close to Hassanabad Nala due to glacier outburst flooding. The disaster has damaged homes and infrastructure.
In Skardu, the water channel of Sadpara Dam was washed away by floods. In Kharmang, erosion by the Indus River forced the closure of the Kargil Road for traffic. Authorities are working to restore access and provide relief. However, continuous rain is making rescue and repair work difficult across the affected regions.
