Former DG ISI Lt Gen Faiz Hameed Sentenced to 14 Years

Islamabad — According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Field General Court Martial proceedings against former DG ISI Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Hameed began on August 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act. The trial continued for nearly 15 months, involving an extensive examination of allegations.

The charge sheet presented before the military court included four major accusations: involvement in political activities, violation of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and state resources, and unlawfully causing harm to certain individuals.

After reviewing evidence, testimonies, and official records, the court found the accused guilty on all counts. ISPR stated that the proceedings were conducted in accordance with all legal formalities, ensuring transparency throughout the process.

On December 11, 2025, the military court formally announced the verdict, sentencing Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Hameed to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment under military law.

ISPR confirmed that the convict was granted the right to engage a defense team of his choice, and he retains the legal right to appeal the decision before the relevant forums.

The military’s statement also noted that additional inquiries are underway regarding the accused’s alleged role in political instability and other sensitive matters, with further details expected later.

Security analysts believe the decision marks a significant step in strengthening institutional accountability and demonstrates the military’s commitment to upholding discipline and rule of law.
