Former Thailand Queen Sirikit Passes Away at 93

Bangkok: Thailand’s Royal Palace has confirmed that former Queen Sirikit, the mother of the current King Maha Vajiralongkorn, has passed away at the age of 93 after a prolonged illness.
Queen Sirikit was the widow of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who ruled Thailand from 1946 to 2016, making him one of the world’s longest-reigning monarchs.
Beloved across Thailand, Queen Sirikit was renowned for her philanthropic work, advocacy for women’s empowerment, and promotion of Thai culture and heritage. She was affectionately known as the “Mother of the Nation.”
According to a Thai government spokesperson, Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has cancelled his attendance at the ongoing ASEAN Summit in Malaysia due to the Queen’s passing.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Pakistan has launched an e-visa system, making it easier for Pakistani citizens to apply for travel visas online without visiting the embassy.
The new system streamlines the application process, reducing the need for physical documentation and in-person visits. Travellers can now submit their applications online, with processing expected to take up to 14 working days.
The e-visa system offers multiple visa categories, including tourist, transit, and non-immigrant visas, and is available to all non-Thai citizens.
