Gul Plaza Tragedy: 67 Bodies Post-Mortem Done, 16 Identified

KARACHI – Post-mortem examinations of 67 bodies recovered from the Gul Plaza incident have been completed. So far, 16 victims have been identified.
According to Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Syed, six bodies were identified visually. Eight victims were confirmed through DNA analysis.
One body was identified using a national identity card, while another was recognized through a locket found on the victim.
Meanwhile, the Sindh Governor has called for a judicial inquiry into the Gul Plaza tragedy. The aim is to determine responsibility for the incident.

Senior Fire Officer Zafar Khan said a fire briefly reignited in the building’s basement but was successfully extinguished.
He explained that a diesel tank on the rooftop, which had not been removed earlier, caught fire during its removal. The fire was quickly controlled.
Zafar Khan added that the building’s structure is severely weakened. Only skeletal remains are now being recovered as search and rescue operations continue.
