India Blocks Official Pakistani Government Account on X

In a significant escalation of tensions between India and Pakistan, India has blocked the official social media account of the Government of Pakistan on X (formerly Twitter) across its territory. This move comes in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack in Indian-occupied Kashmir, further intensifying the ongoing diplomatic standoff between the two nations.

According to reports from Indian media, the decision was taken in response to Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the deadly terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 28 people. India’s Ministry of Information Technology reportedly requested X to restrict the account’s visibility in India, leading to the suspension of its operations within the country.

This action follows a series of retaliatory measures by India, including the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and the closure of the Wagah-Attari border. Additionally, India has cancelled visas issued to Pakistani nationals and ordered all Pakistanis in India to leave within 48 hours.

In response to these developments, Pakistan has called for an emergency meeting of its National Security Committee (NSC). The meeting, which is expected to bring together both civil and military leadership, will discuss possible counteractions and formulate Pakistan’s response to India’s aggressive stance.
