Modi government cancels IPL match, blaming Pakistan for attacks

New Delhi: The Indian government abruptly canceled an ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) match at Dharamshala Stadium after accusing Pakistan of carrying out attacks in Rajasthan, Pathankot, and Indian-administered Kashmir.
According to reports, stadium lights were turned off mid-match and an emergency alert flashed on the screens, claiming a cross-border attack by Pakistan. Players and match officials left the ground immediately as a security precaution.
Earlier in the day, IPL organizers paid tribute to the Indian military, reportedly in connection with operations along the Pakistan border. The cancellation sparked debate, with critics suggesting the incident was used to stoke anti-Pakistan sentiment during a high-visibility event.
Security sources in Pakistan have strongly denied involvement, calling the Indian media’s coverage “fabricated” and part of a propaganda campaign. They assert that reports of attacks in Indian-administered Kashmir are baseless and intended to falsely implicate Pakistan.
