Iran Says US Understands Its Principles After Talks – Qalibaf Statement

Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and head of the negotiating team with the United States, has stated that the US has now understood Iran’s logic and principles following recent talks.
In a statement shared on social media after the conclusion of negotiations, Qalibaf thanked Pakistan for its efforts in facilitating the dialogue process between the two sides. He emphasized that Iran entered the talks with goodwill and a clear intention to reach understanding.
Qalibaf noted that prior to negotiations, he had stressed Iran’s sincerity. However, based on past experiences from two major conflicts, Iran remains cautious and does not easily trust the opposing side.
He further explained that the Iranian delegation took constructive steps regarding future cooperation during the negotiations. Despite these efforts, the opposing side ultimately failed to gain Iran’s trust at this stage.

According to Qalibaf, the United States now clearly understands Iran’s position and principles. He added that the responsibility now lies with Washington to decide whether it can build the necessary trust moving forward.
Highlighting Iran’s stance, he said that diplomacy remains a parallel path alongside military efforts to safeguard national rights. Iran, a nation of approximately 90 million people, continues to stand firm in defending its sovereignty.
Qalibaf concluded by appreciating the Iranian public and reaffirming that efforts will continue to strengthen the achievements of what he described as a 40-day national defense period.
