Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has departed for Egypt to represent Pakistan at the R4 foreign ministers’ meeting in Cairo, where key regional diplomatic and security issues are expected to be discussed.

According to official sources, the high-level forum brings together foreign ministers from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Egypt to deliberate on evolving geopolitical developments, regional cooperation, and shared economic and security challenges. The meeting is considered important for enhancing coordination among participating states amid shifting regional dynamics.

During his visit, Ishaq Dar is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and other foreign ministers attending the conference. These engagements are expected to focus on strengthening bilateral relations, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and discussing regional peace and stability.

Officials said Pakistan views its participation in the R4 dialogue as part of its broader diplomatic outreach strategy aimed at deepening engagement with key Middle Eastern partners. The discussions are also expected to cover humanitarian concerns in conflict-affected regions, energy cooperation, and multilateral coordination on global forums.

Foreign Office representatives noted that Pakistan has consistently supported dialogue-based approaches to resolving regional disputes and continues to advocate for peaceful solutions in line with international law and the United Nations Charter.

The Cairo meeting comes at a time when the Middle East is witnessing heightened diplomatic activity, with multiple countries seeking to enhance coordination on security, economic integration, and post-conflict reconstruction efforts in several regions.

Analysts believe Pakistan’s participation reflects its growing role in regional diplomacy and its intent to remain actively engaged in forums that shape economic and security outcomes in the broader Middle East.

The outcome of the R4 meeting is expected to be shared through a joint communiqué outlining areas of consensus and future cooperation among the participating countries.
