Prices of solar panels of different watt capacities have decreased in Lahore by approximately Rs4,000 to Rs9,000, according to market sources, bringing some relief to consumers who had been facing rising energy-related costs in recent months.

Dealers in local solar markets said the price reduction follows the recent decline in petroleum product rates, which has eased pressure on transportation and logistics costs. They added that further reductions in solar equipment prices are expected in the coming days if the trend in fuel prices continues downward.

Traders explained that higher fuel prices in previous months had significantly increased the cost of transporting solar panels and related components from manufacturing hubs to retail markets. As a result, the overall pricing of solar systems had remained elevated, discouraging some households from investing in alternative energy solutions.

Market observers also noted that batteries, which are an essential part of solar energy systems, had experienced sharp price increases in recent months. According to estimates shared by dealers, battery prices had surged by as much as Rs27,000 to Rs38,000 per unit due to increased production and transportation costs linked to expensive fuel.

Following the recent adjustments in petroleum prices, retailers are now expecting a gradual correction in battery prices as well. This potential decrease could further improve affordability for consumers looking to install or upgrade solar energy systems.

Industry stakeholders believe that sustained stability in fuel prices will play a key role in determining the future cost trend of renewable energy equipment. They argue that lower input and transport costs could help expand solar adoption across residential and commercial sectors.

Consumers, meanwhile, have welcomed the price reduction but remain cautious, saying that previous fluctuations in prices have made planning solar investments difficult. Many hope that continued relief in energy-related costs will create a more stable and affordable renewable energy market in the coming months.
