A local court in Islamabad has stayed the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. The order covers five cases, including those related to the May 9 incidents. The court granted them interim relief until January 27, providing temporary legal protection.
The Islamabad District and Sessions Court extended their pre-arrest bail as their applications remain pending. The hearing was conducted by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka. This decision ensures both the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi are temporarily protected from arrest until the next hearing.
During the proceedings, arguments on the bail applications could not be presented. Imran Khan was unavailable, which led the court to adjourn the matter. Advocate Shamsa Kayani appeared on behalf of both clients and requested an extension in the proceedings.
The court directed Imran Khan to appear at the next hearing either in person or via video link. Following this instruction, the hearing on bail applications was formally adjourned until January 27. Both parties must comply with the court’s directions to avoid legal complications.
Imran Khan faces multiple cases, including those related to May 9 violence, attempted murder, and submission of fake receipts. A separate case has been registered against Bushra Bibi for submitting fake receipts. With interim relief in place, both are legally protected until the next hearing.
