Karachi Commissioner imposes immediate ban on public rallies

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has imposed an immediate ban on public rallies, protests, and sit-ins across the city in response to the prevailing law and order situation.
According to a notification issued by the Commissioner’s Office, the decision was made following a request from the Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi Police to ensure public safety amid security concerns.
The order, enforced under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr. P.C.), prohibits any type of protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, and gatherings of more than five people within Karachi. The restriction is effective immediately for March 24, 2025.
