Lahore High Court Issues Notice to OGRA Chairman in Contempt of Court Case
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued a notice to the Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) in a contempt of court case for failing to comply with previous court directions.

Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza heard the case filed by the Oil Marketing Association, which stated that it is a registered and legally recognized body representing oil companies. However, another unregistered association named the “Oil Advisory Council” is also operating in the market.

According to the petitioner, the court had earlier directed the OGRA chairman to clarify the legal status of the Oil Advisory Council. Despite these clear instructions, the chairman failed to submit a response, prompting the association to file a contempt petition.

The petitioner requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the OGRA chairman for not complying with judicial orders.

The court, after hearing initial arguments, issued a notice to the OGRA chairman, seeking an explanation regarding the legal standing of the Oil Advisory Council and his failure to comply with the court’s prior order.
