Maryam Nawaz Inaugurates Electric Bus Service: Sahiwal

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the electric bus service in Sahiwal on Monday. After the ceremony, she boarded one of the buses and toured the city. This launch follows last week’s introduction of eco-friendly electric buses in the region.
Maryam Nawaz announced that 60 electric buses would operate in Sargodha city, with 105 buses covering the entire Sargodha division. To support this, a charging station has been set up in Sargodha for smooth operations. This initiative aims to promote cleaner, greener public transport.
The chief minister also announced financial aid for livestock owners affected by recent floods. Compensation will range from Rs200,000 to Rs500,000, and cheque distribution will start within five days. This support aims to help residents recover from heavy losses.
She highlighted the scale of flood devastation, affecting 27 cities and over 5,000 villages. Maryam Nawaz praised the government’s quick response, which helped save many lives during the crisis. Relief efforts included evacuating 2.5 million people to safer locations.
Additionally, authorities ensured the safe relocation of livestock to protect local livelihoods. Food and other necessities were also provided to the displaced people. The Punjab government remains committed to supporting those impacted by the floods.
