ISLAMABAD: The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new, streamlined process for acquiring Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC), making it easier for citizens to apply and receive their IDs. The new procedure allows applicants to apply for their CNIC from home using the Pak ID website or mobile application. Once the application is processed, the CNIC will be delivered directly to the applicant’s doorstep via courier.
This initiative aims to save citizens valuable time and eliminate the need for repeated visits to NADRA offices. Applicants can now avoid waiting in long queues at NADRA centres. For more information or to submit an online application, citizens can visit NADRA’s official website at www.nadra.gov.pk or contact the helpline at 1777.
In addition to the new process, NADRA has announced a major benefit for first-time applicants. Pakistani citizens who turn 18 and do not have a CNIC will be eligible to receive their first ID card for free. The CNIC will be delivered without a chip within 15 days. This initiative is designed to increase voter registration and ensure that more citizens have access to official identification.
NADRA also updated its fee structure for CNIC renewals. The new charges for the month of October are Rs 400 for regular processing, Rs 1,150 for urgent requests, and Rs 2,150 for executive processing. These updated fees will apply to all CNIC renewals, including for Smart ID Cards.
With these updates, NADRA is making it easier and more affordable for Pakistani citizens to maintain their identity documents and participate in the democratic process. The improved process and free ID card offer demonstrate the government’s commitment to enhancing citizen services and increasing convenience.
